![]() ALBERT GENEALOGYHello and thank you for visiting, my name is Joseph M. Albert. The content of these pages represent over 45 years of research into my roots. The information includes my own work and that of others. It has not been researched in fact I know that the work contains errors therefore I ask that you DO NOT accept it as being accurate. The information contained herein is meant as a rough guide to allow researchers a starting point in their research Due to my commitment to helping others find their roots this page will move/grow slowly as I gain new information. Anyone wishing to add to or change the information contained herein should E-Mail me with their data. Research into the ALBERT surname has produced 5-6 seperate and distinct lines none of which have been connected as of now. These lines are those ALBERT families who originated in France and came to the "New World" thru Canada. There are more ALBERT lines who came to this continent and to the USA through various routes. One such family is the ALBERT family of Butler County, PA. Their genealogy may be viewed at the ALBERT FAMILY TREE site, a link to which is provided later in this document. Another, is a newer line, to me the Jean Baptiste ALBERT family of, probably, the Alsace Lorraine area of Germany/France. Again a link is provided below. These pages include the families of my GGGGGGrandfather
Gabriel Albert who was married in Pabos, QC.. The family moved
to Caraquet, New Brunswick where many of them reside today. The Pierre
Albert family who settled around the Kamouraska area,
the Guillaume Albert family who landed in Quebec and
probably was the first of our surname to land in the New World,
and the Nicolas Albert family. Nicolas first came to Prince Edward Island as Nicolas Herbert and was deported back to France during the 1750s deportation of the French, only to loose his wife and firstborn on the trip back to France.
After a number of years in France he changed his name
to ALBERT and remarried. He came back to this continent
thru the West Indies and landed in New Orleans
where many of his family still live.
Recently I have expanded these pages to include the families of the collateral lines of those listed herein. This in a way makes this no longer just an ALBERT website but it does give the researcher more to go on. I would like to thank all the
many people who assisted in the compilation
of the data you are viewing. They have been most generous
in supplying information and have aided immensely in
this project. They know who they are so I will not list them
but I must acknowledge their contributions with a heart felt
